Experiment Description

The purpose of this experiment is to create a catalogue of experiments performed by DIH CTU CIIRC with the Czech SMEs. The catalogue will contain at least 7 joint experiments of our DIH CTU CIIRC with the Czech SMEs.

To be useful in practice, and serve as a basis for further use and development, the catalogue of the realized experiments shall contain not only a sole description of the particular experiments, but also a description of the type of the SME/SMEs with which the experiment has been realized. Therefore, it could serve as an inspiration for the SMEs of the same type in the future, and as such boost technology transfer and digitalization and AI technology maturity increase of the whole Czech SMEs community.

Involved SMEs shall be characterized by the following parameters:

  • Size of the company, region, the focus of activity, production type

  • Stage of the digital maturity

The experiments shall be categorized as well, e.g., by the following criteria:

  • Type of the experiment: technology, advisory, education, etc.

  • Technology supported

  • Time framework

  • Possibility of subsidy or loan gain

  • Other parties involved (i.e. academy, innovation and research centers, infrastructure such as Testbeds

  • Other significant information

Connectivity with other suitable national academies, industrial and government portals is a must.

Expected Impact

This experiment intends to increase mobility and knowledge transfer within at least 10 joint projects of entrepreneurs and academia, in which there is a transfer of knowledge and direct application of research findings in the company, which are of strategic importance for its further development.
These are activities with the participation of academy experts that will actively seek at least 10 partners from the business sector (preferable manufacturing Czech SMEs) and offer unique knowledge and know-how created in an academic, research organization, and professional university workplaces. The protection and management of intellectual property rights will be supported, including the services needed to protect and manage intellectual property.

Individual experiments will be described in such detail and a form that will serve as:

  • Record of CTU's activities boosting up technology transfer by creating a good practice.

  • Clear overview of the academy and state technology knowledge support that SMEs can apply for in their efforts to increase their digital level.

  • Czech SMEs shall get a good overview of the innovation possibilities.

  • Promotion of the innovation activities of the particular SMEs

  • Educational material

  • Inspiration for other SMEs to implement similar projects. Of course, tailored to their needs.

  • Information impact - dissemination of information on what services CTU provides within the national DIH ecosystem, through workshops, cooperation with individual industry associations

Moreover, through this experiment, CTU would like to achieve the following goals:

  • Creating a clear record of at least 10 high value-added experiments.

  • Sharing the results with the industry practice and academy.

  • Motivating at least 10 SMEs to implement higher innovation performance and higher intensity of R&D activities, higher involvement in knowledge and technology transfer, and cooperation with research organizations

  • Increasing the number of innovation leaders within domestic SMEs, motivation to other experiments in the field of AI technology, a faster transition of SMEs to digital technologies, including use of AI, IoT, robotics, etc.

  • Raising sufficient awareness of technological, organizational, and business opportunities for the practical use of digital innovations for their rapid economic growth.

  • Seeing good practice examples - sufficient investment of SMEs in production with higher added value through innovation or technology development and interest in acquiring new technological devices and equipment, including the necessary infrastructure following the principles of P4.0 resulting in higher productivity and stronger position in value chains.

  • Boosting digital and AI skills within SMEs´ employees – experiment can be a good source of information for technical staff and other experts.

  • Boosting both digital and AI skills within industrial public – experiments can be a good source of information for media.
